Assembled opposition MPs shout "no, no" to the summons to go to the Lords. Protest placards coming out.
Speaker is standing up for Parliament. Makes the point that it is not a standard of normal prorogation.
"This represents an act of executive fiat."

This is an out and out lie by the Treasury.

Right now I can already go to the EU and fill my car with booze until the axles threaten to break. And then bring it back into the UK without paying any duty, so long as it's for private consumption.
After Brexit that will no longer be possible. So we'll drop from a system with no quota to one with a very tight quota.

But there's an extra electioneering fiddle. HMRC will forego the alcohol tax on booze sold on the Channel crossing so it will be cheaper than it is now.
They are effectively subsidising cross-channel booze purchases to the tune of several hundred million pounds of lost duty revenue a year.

So currently you buy as much alcohol as you like anywhere in the EU and the duty is included so you can bring it back duty free.

Thoughts on the "new" LibDem Brexit position that they will simply revoke A50 if they get an overall majority [new part] or back a referendum with a remain option and campaign for remain if they don't...
1. It's the logical end state for a party whose slogan is "Stop Brexit"
2. Is it an inclusive offer across the entire electorate? No. It leaves out those who still want to Leave more than they want to get on with all the rest of the things we should be doing
3. But it is the first time the 48% (now probably more) will have an option *just for them*
4. Since we have to make do with the wholly inadequate FPTP electoral system, they don't need to win over a majority of the country, not even close.
5. Clarity is like gold dust in the Brexit debate. The Brexit Party has it. Now (hopefully - needs approval) the LD do to.

And we're off. Govt motion #2 for a General Election. Boris out of the gate with a reference to the Speaker always acting in what the *Speaker* judges to be in the National Interest. In Parliamentary terms, that's a low blow.
"Corbyn first Leader of the Opposition in history to show his confidence in the Government by declining to have an election with a view to removing the government." Corbyn doing the usual attempt to kill Boris with a glare, clearly not kept up with Sith training.
"The Surrender Act has now passed; he's done his level best to wreck this country's chances of a successful election, by his own logic he must now back an election." Entire Labour front bench avoiding looking across at the Tories. Amazing how many directions a minister can gaze.

In the Lords the Opposition and Crossbench peers have laid a motion that will allow them the time to scrutinise the Bill that's about to be debated in the Commons. They want to debate this Bill on Friday at the latest. More on that later

Standing room only for public hearing on Kelowna short term rentals regulations. City is looking to finalize its rules for this. Lots of public interest and I imagine many people here will be affected by how this plays out.
Staff going through the bylaw and draft regulations. Basically short term rentals allowed in a home owner’s principal residence. Some areas (Sunset drive, around the hospital, McKinley Landing, and some other condos) allowed STR in properties that are not a primary residence
This would mean a ban on STR in carriage houses, secondary suites and investment properties, except in those neighbourhoods mentioned above. People could rent out their entire home though, if they go away on holiday for example. But they must live there 8+ months of the year.
