It is amazing how Preet Bharara casually moves in and out of left and liberal spaces and has never once been asked to account for his spearheading the racist and cruel Bronx120 raid that ruined the lives of dozens of poor black people and it’s just been totally memory-holed

Aside from being a gratuitous PR spectacle that wrecked the lives of dozens (and killed one man who fell to his death trying to escape) it’s important to note the Bronx120 raid was largely built on retrying people for federal crimes they were ALREADY CONVICTED OF in state court

little doubt incitement against homeless by local media, Fox News, etc plays a role in these type of hate crimes. This was done by the son of former head of Eagle Rock Chamber of Commerce––Chamber of Commerces are a major propaganda node of anti-poor, far right business interests
this comes after a July in Austin that saw
(1) a death threat sent to City Council member Greg Casar of a picture of an urn of ashes w/ the text “Fuck you Casar heres what you should ‘do for’ the vagrants”
(2) an Austin homeless encampment was set on fire statesman.com/news/20190718/…

What a credulous piece of reporting. No mention of Tea Party being a Koch-seeded astroturf, no mention it was animated by racist hostility to Obama and black people and immigrants in general, no mention of its contempt for women. Complete doofus brain shit nytimes.com/2019/08/28/us/…
Except the Tea Party got EXACTLY what it wanted because it’s nominal opposition to deficits was a PR cover for standard anti-poor partisan GOP politics. The net result of 2010 takeover was gerrymandering, anti-abortion laws, anti-environmentalism, taking healthcare from millions.
“Tea Party failed because deficits are high” is supposed to be some cool liberal gotcha but it glosses over how astroturfed and phony the whole thing was.

Let's pretend AOC LOST her election but decides to spend the next decade not working full-time but running for office as a socialist - each time getting less than 5% of the vote. But she's so poor that she can't financially support her child (whom she never discloses to media).
Now, let's pretend she finally gets her first job as town Supervisor of Yorktown where she grew up. She stays there for 8 years and then runs for Congress and loses, but wins the following election. Then after several terms she finally gets elected to the Senate.
