Bahnsen argues weakly, and without even a soupcon of evidentiary support, that progressive politics are the problem because of the Senate judiciary hearings on Bork and Kavanaugh--which is frankly just dull-witted. He basically blames "progressives" for Trump's ascendancy.

But also, Bahsen ignores POC entirely and even dismisses crimes against white girls like the teenaged Christine Blasey Ford. Bahsen even sidesteps Clarence Thomas. Why note Kavanaugh and leave out Thomas/Hill? Lazy thinking and bad tropes.

Pseudo-intellectual cant of this sort is meant to assuage any individuated queasiness amongst those #GOP who might momentarily be aghast at scenes of white people in red MAGA hats yelling #SendHerBack.
It's neither smart not convincing, just quisling rhetoric. Period. Ugh.

Also, Bahnsen's assertion that progressives have harmed conservatives is just shocking, like invocation of the editorial cartoon of Paul Ryan pushing granny over a cliff in a wheelchair when Ryan was giving the 1% a 20% tax break on the backs of America's indigent elderly.

That editorial image was correct. And to insist in this whingeing tremulous tone that conservatives have been victimized after what was done to both Clintons and Obama by the right is gobsmacking. Bahsen never once holds Trump to account. Nor Bush/Cheney, GHWB or Reagan.

This is how authoritarian propaganda seeps into the Zeigeist: calm white men in suits and ties--not MAGA hats or brown shirts--send out victimized screeds of this sort. Anti-intellectual, anti-historical, but bottom line, ultimately and acutely dangerous. 7/
