I'm informed that the political pressure & media scrutiny could temporarily lead to a downturn in US military traffic thru Prestwick. How much is unclear. It wouldn't stop altogether. Military logistics and commercial obligations won't allow it. PIK is too strategically important
I noted as much in my story on the postponement to the DLA fuel deal. Any decision would be taken by the USAF. It's a live issue and had been for days. scotsman.com/news/us-milita…
But if the USAF decreases traffic thru Prestwick, it needs an alternative. Flights have to be rerouted. There are several potential options, but I'm told the likeliest is Shannon Airport in Ireland.
Under the terms of the DLA EUCOM deal, which covers Prestwick, Shannon Airport will provide the US military with nine million plus gallons of aviation fuel thru 2024. Rerouting *some* traffic there is not a leap in the dark. Here's the DLA paperwork. 
Which means more aircrews in Co Clare, Ireland, which means the need for accommodation. The hotels listed on Shannon Airport's website for would be visitors include ... Trump Doonbeg, a POTUS owned resort. It's an hour away, and where VP Mike Pence stayed (via a Shannon flight).
I should stress there's no indication of significant changes in military traffic thru Prestwick, but I'm told that if this "alternative" routing was pursued to take focus off Prestwick. Trump'd still benefit from USAF patronage. If you know more my DMs are open. Email in profile.
