I've always been curious: like, who in the hell do American Nazis / white power idiots / whatever I'm supposed to call them think American fought in World War Two?

When white men like Kavanaugh lie, they're still telling a larger truth: not only will I get away with it, I will be rewarded. Things won't really change until _that_ does.
Tweets aside, the NYT story does an excellent job of putting Kavanaugh's behavior in a larger context of aggression by the wealthy toward the "insufficiently rich." Our culture doesn't just consider the kind of thing Kavanaugh did a rite of passage. It's also a display of status.
Deborah Ramirez's ability to talk about the "good to come" is beyond moving to me. It makes me feel like working hard to help make sure her prediction comes true.

@roundtablepnw .@JeffBezos when you & 180 other @roundtablepnw CEOs said last month "not enough is being done for workers to adjust to the rapid pace of change in the economy," did you mean your decision today to cut medical for 1,900 @WholeFoods workers? Is that your plan to help them adjust?

Not a great look for Uber's chief legal officer to be trolling Lorena Gonzalez on Twitter right now either, particularly in light of the company's history. Maybe take it down about a thousand notches, tech.
Tony West being Kamala Harris' brother-in-law doesn't interest me much. Way more interested in how someone who was integral to the Obama administration's decision to stop defending DOMA came to be such an ardent defender of one of the most infamously unethical companies in tech.

For those who don’t know, Harry Leslie Smith is a man who grew up in Britain before the welfare state. He fought in World War Two, married a German woman and in the last decade of his nearly century-long life, dedicated himself to staving off this repeat of his own life’s history
He traveled to Calais to help refugees. He wrote an incredible memoir and gave every ounce of energy left in his body to warn my generation of all the things he knew to look out for.

@Harryslaststand is an astounding human being.

One problem that seems common on the right and left is aversion to valid criticism of arguments. Many people seem less interested in finding truth than they are looking for reinforcement of their world views. This environment is very exhausting, and it's damaging to our republic.
The difference between the republican party and the democratic party on the issue of racism depends upon which party the south selects to run on. The logical error people make is assuming that because the south selects one party, all people in that party must be racist by def..
Republicans like @TomNichols who have to deal with many of these political realities and hedge these kinds of problems are misunderstood, and if I'm honest, they are sometimes mistreated by liberals. This creates hostilities that makes a republic like ours very difficult to run.
