Not a great look for Uber's chief legal officer to be trolling Lorena Gonzalez on Twitter right now either, particularly in light of the company's history. Maybe take it down about a thousand notches, tech.
Tony West being Kamala Harris' brother-in-law doesn't interest me much. Way more interested in how someone who was integral to the Obama administration's decision to stop defending DOMA came to be such an ardent defender of one of the most infamously unethical companies in tech.
Hey @Uber / @tonywest care to comment on how it's possible that "drivers’ work is outside the usual course of Uber’s business" but also that its drivers' names are closely held "trade secrets" at the same time? bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

When white men like Kavanaugh lie, they're still telling a larger truth: not only will I get away with it, I will be rewarded. Things won't really change until _that_ does.
Tweets aside, the NYT story does an excellent job of putting Kavanaugh's behavior in a larger context of aggression by the wealthy toward the "insufficiently rich." Our culture doesn't just consider the kind of thing Kavanaugh did a rite of passage. It's also a display of status.
Deborah Ramirez's ability to talk about the "good to come" is beyond moving to me. It makes me feel like working hard to help make sure her prediction comes true.

@roundtablepnw .@JeffBezos when you & 180 other @roundtablepnw CEOs said last month "not enough is being done for workers to adjust to the rapid pace of change in the economy," did you mean your decision today to cut medical for 1,900 @WholeFoods workers? Is that your plan to help them adjust?

Twitter right now kinda feels like a preview of The Simpsons episode when Monte Burns passes away.
Homer will say inappropriately gleeful things. Marge will tell him he shouldn't say such things. Lisa will wax philosophical about how death comes to us all and we should be humbled.
Bart will make a sign about it and fly it out his window and then Homer, having learned lessons from Marge and Lisa, will reluctantly tell him to take it down, and then he'll go to Moe's and tell the guys proudly about what his kid did and they'll all laugh.

I spent a few minutes picking through Kamala Harris's FEC filings. It struck me as odd that she had no legal expenses during the first quarter (other than having a few salaried paralegals on staff), despite having Marc Elias as her general counsel. freebeacon.com/politics/kamal…
I also noticed that Twitter's Chief Legal Officer, as well as another in house Twitter attorney, are supporters.
Whereas Warren's presidential campaign IS paying Perkins Coie. Hmmm.

Uber S-1 thoughts:

-AWS for transportation is its final form
-It's a modern day temp agency; driver churn is 3-5x below industry avg
-Eats cities profitable in 4-6 quarters, aggressive expansion impacted 2H‘18, 40% of users are new to Uber, and is a wedge into last mile delivery
If you’re reading this, I’m assuming you’ve read other Uber S-1 takes. We all knew Uber was burning cash, but a lack of cohort data (both drivers and riders), and its core business metrics collapsing to end 2018, was surprising.
Like most US companies, the US and developed Europe are likely Uber’s cash cows, but international revenue helps cover overhead, and can be incremental cash flow.
