The insistence by prognosticators to overlearn some lessons from 2016 while ignoring others would be funny if it wasn’t so prevalent. We literally saw an election where voters showed what they’re willing to accept when the decision is a binary choice.
GOP primary was littered by serious men who warned Trump’s radical, race-fueled, immigration, trade, businessman approach would lead to a landslide loss in the general election. Now we’re supposed to believe socialism or a “safe, boring” candidate are going to be nonstarters?
Kyle’s other point is well-taken: Voters were buying what Trump was selling! And others put up with it to get what they really wanted: favorable tax law, Supreme Court edge, etc. I just think the alarm, and at times concern trolling, is overdone.
