@NewStatesman My argument is that the Supreme Court needs to follow Scots Court of Session not the High Court to check executive overreach, but the wider context is that there will be consequences for the court truly becoming the constitutional court it has evolved to be. Fascinating times!

Annoyingly, I don't think that fair usage (the ability to use short sections of copyrighted material for e.g. news reporting) applies to Supreme Court footage. This is where the exception comes from legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1988/48/…
This is the law governing Supreme Court footage, which appears to give the SC an absolute discretion to make recording "subject to such conditions as the Supreme Court thinks proper with respect to publication" legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1981/49/… (ht @gabrielquotes)
And this is the Supreme Court have said about how the recording can be used, though you might argue the first and second sentences are contradictory as I, for example, would repost footage for the purpose of fair and accurate reporting...supremecourt.uk/live/court-01.…

I know this is quite niche but has anyone else found themselves trapped in the railway museum in Kidderminster desperately trying to find the real trains and it’s like being in that Nicholas Lyndhurst series?
Genuinely, I stopped a man on the platform (who was clearly a 21st century guy) and said “I have an embarrassing question... is this a real train or an exhibit”? Turned out the mainline station is being refurbished so the entrances have been changed

CNN Video evidence - In pre MSM propaganda days, CNN was threatened into publishing propaganda for the Obama admin. They mentioned that the Whitehouse had people go after anyone that reported badly on Obama.

Good morning. I'm in federal court today covering the sentencing hearing for convicted swatter Tyler Barriss. He pleaded guilty in November to 51 federal charges involving swatting calls and bomb hoaxes made at schools and businesses across the country.
Barriss is with his federal public defender, Rich Federico, this morning. He's dressed in an orange jail jumpsuit.
Judge is talking about some objections the defense had to supervision restrictions. They deal with Internet restrictions.

That Instagram influencer I occasionally check in on because she's The Worst is now charging $165 for a 4 hour "seminar" on how to be yourself.
Important update: Said "influencer" just put down a deposit on a venue for her "seminar" and is conveniently upping the number of available spots for attendees. Methinks she just realized how pricey her scam was going to be and is now trying to widen those profit margins.
Further update: The "influencer" sold out her seminars! So she's netting a gross profit of like $15k (more than my annual wage), so pardon me if I spend today feeling like hard work and talent are a tad pointless.

Injured service members were awarded a default judgment of $315M at court in D.C. The judgment was eventually registered in NY so Sudanese assets could be accessed from banks there. That prompted Sudan to appeal the judgment and claim they were never served properly.

Having finished The Authoritarians, it's time to start a new thread of #IanLivetweetsHisResearch. Today I am finally getting past the introduction of How Propaganda Works by Jason Stanley.
Having slogged through some proper academic writing in my day, Stanley's writing is blessedly accessible. But after Altemeyer's light tone and constant dad jokes, Stanley's reads as pretty dry.
So far the introduction is full of a lot of quotations about the nature of democracy, from Victor Klemperer to Elizabeth Anderson to Plato. OF COURSE Plato.
