Here is all the proof you need that the media gives Mahmoud Abbas a pass:

Late last year, Abbas wanted to dissolve the Palestinian Legislative Council because there were lots of elected Hamas members from the elections 14 or so years ago. The group hadn't met in years. But... 1/

Abbas was worried because if he dies, the law makes the PLC leader his successor. So he figured out a way to dissolve it, supposedly legally....

In 2016, Abbas appointed - by himself - all the members of the Palestinian Supreme Constitutional Court. Essentially, he now called on these people he controls to dissolve the PLC. And they did.

So Abbas, who already controlled the executive branch and Fatah, added the judiciary and the PLC to be under his control. But that wasn't enough. 4/

Earlier this year he demanded the resignation of the cabinet, which was mostly "technocrats," and replaced them with loyal Fatah members. Just because he wanted more power.

Now he calls all the shots in "Palestine." 5/

I'm sure I have some details a little wrong, because I can't understand Arabic, but this was the gist of it.

Now, how many Western journalists have reported on this amazing abuse of power by Abbas?

The slightest issue in Israel gets front page @nytimes coverage, but a power grab to consolidate Abbas' power over the past 12 months is COMPLETELY unreported.

And if someone actually looked at the details, it would be even juicier. E.g., the Supreme Court does very little else.

@nytimes And it is in a very nice building, probably built with Western dollars.

Just another scandal that the media won't ever cover.

@nytimes So, yes, the absence of reporting of an incredibly juicy story involving a Middle East leader shows that reporters are covering up for Abbas, because he is the "moderate" and Bibi is the "extremist."

It is really sickening how no reporters do their jobs. 9/
