One of the things i have learned, as I've got more followers, is that it brings a responsibility. You DO NOT reply or include someone who the weight of your followers will descend on. Regardless of political opinion.

Kuenssberg fucked up today with that.
Anyone who tries to accuse her of not being a decent journo can fuck off. I have no time for that. She generally is and she deserves both decency and respect. If you won't give her that I will block you.
But, as Green said, she has a duty to both question the Number 10 line and not add to the harm they are trying to inflict on an angry parent to defend themselves.
It's shit journalism. The kind I expect from Humphrys. And she's so much better than that.

The thing I find bizarre about this kind of thing is that the ONLY reason to do it is because you think it will make people around you think you're cool.

Like, they're going to get to work and be: "OMG i saw a man blocking the aisle. It was filthy sexy."
It's the same as boys doing wheelies on busy streets. They think they look hardcore, but they just look like a twat on a Raleigh.

But yes, technically same side by Waterloo as Luxembourg is released by France under the terms of the Treaty of Vienna and becomes an autonomous state under a personal union with the Netherlands.

Luxemburgians fought at Waterloo as part of the Dutch contingent.
Indeed as Luxemburgians fought for Napoleon in a number of his campaigns it's entirely possible those particular veterans felt the call of the Eagle in 1815 and fought for the Emperor too.

Although that would have been as individuals, not as the state.

One of the things I’ve learned over the last decade or so is that America still hasn’t gotten past the Civil War 150 years on.
I’m not referring to “Lost Cause” sentiments or grudges from either side, btw - I mean that in a concrete, not emotional, sense.
For instance, I’m toward the end of Chernow’s bio of Grant, and one of the points he makes is that the failure of Reconstruction meant that most of what was won for black Americans by the Civil War was lost a decade later.

@eugenewei Two beginning premises:

1) People are status-seeking monkeys.

2) People seek out the most efficient path to maximizing social capital.

Wei begins with these because few would dispute them but they're also rarely used to analyze social networks.
This is partly bc we lack ways to measure the values & movement of social capital with the same accuracy and precision we do financial capital.

But "social capital is, in many ways, a leading indicator of financial capital, and so its nature bears greater scrutiny."
