The early hype around Kamala was a product of the media projecting onto her, because she was in line with their sensibilities for who the Democratic nominee should be. But of course, none of them would admit that was a factor in their baseless prognosticating

The reason the Ukraine episode spurred such a rapid march toward impeachment is because it has clear narrative continuity with all that preceded it vis-a-vis Russia/Mueller. And so continues the long national embarrassment: realclearpolitics.com/articles/2019/…
Democratic party leadership now wants to draw a "bright line" around Ukraine and distinguish it from all the conduct they previously described as impeachable. But that doesn't make any sense. "Ukrainegate" is a direct outgrowth of "Russiagate." They are inseparable

This paragraph reads as Trump asking Zelensky to provide information related to the origins of Russia/Mueller, in the context of AG Barr's ongoing probe. So at least here, he's asking for assistance related to a US investigation -- not a Ukrainian investigation
If you believe an investigation into the origins of Russia/Mueller is legitimate (which it is, there are still plenty of outstanding issues) then asking for a "favor" in the context of that specific investigation is not unto itself untoward
Zelensky then brings up Giuliani, and Trump does one of his typical semi-intelligible riffs about how Biden maybe did something horrible, and Zelensky should talk to Giuliani. Bad form to even bring up Biden? Sure, but it's a lot vaguer than initially presented

Set aside the Ukraine phone call. Articles of impeachment will inevitably include aspects of the Mueller saga, and therefore Dems will be impeaching (at least in part) on the basis of a ridiculous militaristic conspiracy theory. Nothing "progressive" or even logical about that
The phone call was just the "spark" that Dem leadership needed to justify going the distance. Impeachment was set in motion by Mueller, and will encompass the entire Mueller ordeal. Nadler is not going to suddenly discard all his prior work and focus exclusively on one phone call
The whole reason the Ukraine phone call spurred this latest flareup is because it has vague narrative continuity with the Mueller Report (many Democrats have been explicit about that in their rationale for why they now support impeachment)

Thread: In this historic moment (I'll keep emphasizing) where we have the 1st Black woman in the top tier of a major party's POTUS primaries, the MSM needs to rise to occasion and cover #Kamala's campaign with the competence it warrants. As I will address @time missed the mark.
Rather than inform us of the specifics in #Kamala's #3AMAgenda Molly decides to regurgitate the FALSE narrative that Kamala's agenda is vague/ noncommittal. That is lazy/uninformative. Her plans are specific AND rooted in YEARS of legislative groundwork.
As I mentioned earlier, writers tend to approach #Kamala with cynicism & perpetuate that notion. I've asked before "who is they" now let me ask "who are people"? This insinuates that #KamalaHarris is shifty rather than warm & authentic as we've seen repeatedly.

In Dec 2012 #Kamala issued a bulletin to law enforcement agencies that compliance with an I.C.E. deportation program was not mandatory. Her review showed that 28% of those targeted for deportation in CA as a result of the program were not criminals. #KamalasRecord #KamalaHarris
As AG, #Kamala issued important bulletins and guidance to CA law enforcement agencies. One such example is her Oct 2015 guidance outlining the law enforcement agencies responsibilities to assist immigrant crime victims in applying for U-visas.

Reading all the Death Stranding takes and the thing that I can't help but come back to is why, in the greater Western discourse, Kojima is often among the few Japanese devs whose "weird" aspects in his games are allowed to have a deeper meaning when many other devs are denied it.
The thing people in the West tend to not realize or otherwise downplay is that, in many ways, Kojima is an adventure game dev rather than an action one. He started his career in the golden age of Japanese adventure games and was inspired to enter gamedev by Yuji Horii's Portopia.
People outside VN circles often think of RPGs as being the main genre Japanese devs turn to for storytelling. But for a long time, about 15 years, traditional adventure games were often the place to go when it came to finding cutting-edge subjects and themes in Japanese games.

Interesting point by Nate Silver before, that it may not be that there’s any late trend for the Dems but that massive fundraising advantage is now kicking in, flooding the zone with ads, in some cases agst GOPs that didn’t know they were vulnerable, didn’t raise enough cash.
2/ Case of Steve King is good example. Beginning of the week he apparently had about $150k in the bank. Had raised little and basically used his campaign to employ relatives. Only went live with his first ad yesterday. And it was an ad he had to repurpose from 2014.
3/ Actually still referred to Obama as president. It’s a very Trump district. Don’t count him out by any means. But it’s a good example of the pattern. One reason why Nate has said he thinks some GOPs in redder districts will fare worse than those in ...
