We’ve been pretty happy running SvN on Wordpress, but if there’s anything that’d make us bolt, it’d be venture-fueled aspirations of complete dominance. Hiding such distasteful goals behind “open platform” is some disingenuous shit too.
The whole point of the open, thriving web is to have a plethora of platforms, tools, and publishers out there. Monoculture and monopoly are pests upon the free web, whether they’re backed by an open source license or not. Thought Matt of all people would be in tune to that.

The iPhone 11 performs as advertised on the Speedometer 2.0 JavaScript test with a score of 150. That’s exactly 20% more than the XS. Matching the iPad Pro. And almost THREE times faster than the latest Snapdragon 855. (Thanks @LaurenGoode for testing ❤️).
It’s also more than 20% faster than my 10-core iMac Pro! And ditto for the MacBook Pro. The Apple chip team is once again simply trouncing everyone else in the industry. The best Android chip continues to be about 3 years behind Apple on this test. Astounding.
Also interesting: This doesn’t seem to be about which JavaScript engine you run. Chrome and Safari hit exactly the same 125 on my iMac Pro running latest release of both and OSX. This really is all down to Apple’s insane chip power.

Notice how common it is for VCs to see both workers as “bred”. Workhorses to “grab”, possess, exploit. It’s the definition of inhuman. This particular example is so over the top that it’s comical, but the sentiment is widespread.
Dehumanizing workers is not just about treating them poorly or paying them little. Lauding them as racehorses is not much of a compliment. Implicit in the praise is the reality that they’ll be discarded the second the break a leg sprinting for your prize.
The irony of that stupid thread is its lack of awareness that so many of the proposed 10x qualities are really just charges brought against the travesty that is the modern office. With its endless meetings, interruptions, and inability to do work during work hours.

Maybe time to admit that the mission of "connecting the world" has been an abject failure. That the world is worse off from being connected in the ways Facebook has done it.

Can someone explain how does pricing work for all the eCommerce websites like @myntra First screenshot shows the product which I had bought when not on sale and on sale the price was inflated to almost 3X with 25% off?
Do sellers have control over the pricing or @myntra has it?
@myntra Unlike Uber / Ola which has dynamic pricing on supply and demand. How does this work in eCommerce? The third screenshot shows the pricing of the same product changes almost every day! How is this possible and legal at the same time?
@myntra I understand that every #e-commerce inflates the price around the sale. But @myntra takes it to the next level altogether. Just wanna understand how is legal. What loophole in the system is being taken advantage?

I think we will look back at 2017 and see it as the year the #WordPress project started to fracture. As much as the community desperately wants to see WordPress as an enterprise CMS, projects like #Gutenberg show it is anything but.
Gutenberg is a phenomenal piece of software and everyone involved in it should be proud of what they have achieved. But we also shouldn't be afraid to call it what it is. It's a move toward WordPress being a site builder.
It's a shift away from fellow PHP-based CMSs like @CraftCMS, #EE, @statamic, @getgrav, @grabaperch, @drupal and the countless other custom-field based CMSs out there. It's a move away from one of the key features of a real enterprise ready CMS. Native structured content.
