Is this the moment the world wakes up? The #GlobalClimateStrike could mark a momentous shift, begun by #FridaysForFuture and @ExtinctionR, and now spreading around the world.
I sense that history will be made today. We could look back on the first #GlobalClimateStrike as an inflection point. I wouldn't miss it for anything.

The Global #ClimateStrike continues today, with massive rallies in some countries. Love and strength to all!
Alongside the grief and fear, I feel a sense of relief. For 30 years, privately and publicly, I've been told I'm mad. Sometimes I felt I was, and sometimes I behaved that way, lashing out irrationally. Now I know that if I'm mad, so are millions of others. Mad as hell, in fact.
Now we come together, motivated by something that's almost unmentionable in this market-driven world.
#Love.
We are constantly told self-interest reigns supreme.
It doesn't.
We rebel in love for each other, love for the living world, love for what we might become.

Greta's calm strength in the face of this storm of hate and conspiracy theories is another of her outstanding qualities.
I don't know how she does it. That shit would break my back.
Not only has @GretaThunberg shifted the entire global conversation about climate breakdown, she has also shifted the whole conversation about #Neurodiversity.
She has helped everyone who has been labelled "weird" to embrace their difference and take pride in it.
Total hero.
We need different ways of looking at the world to get out of our mess. #Neurodiversity has always been crucial for human survival. Yet our schools select and reward just 1 of the many varieties of intelligence. I made a film about this with @SustainableMan

I'm looking for a volunteer with writing skills, ideally in the Brighton/Sussex area, to work on a very interesting project concerning human rights, refugees and environmental destruction. Thanks.
I should point out that this is not my project, and I'm not involved in it. But it is something very interesting and worthwhile. Several people have come forward already - thank you! And we perhaps have the makings of a small team.

Yoongi is tired, feeling uninspired, it's not even half way through the day but he really needs a pick me up. He's already had a coffee or two and that didn't work so what other choice does he have. He lifts himself out of his chair and stretches with a yawn.
At least he doesn't have to go far. He locks his studio and turns to knock on the door adjacent. There's no answer but he knows it won't be locked so he opens it. His presence isn't noticed and he knows it's because of the noise cancelling headphones.
Hoseok almost jumps out of his skin as Yoongi's hand taps his shoulder, his headphones fling onto the keyboard with a clatter, "Hyung?! You scared the hell out of me!" he turns in his chair, his hand over his heart.

"Sorry." Yoongi mumbles, blinking slowly.

If I was learning a first programming language today, here are the ones I would consider.

- JavaScript
- Python
- Ruby
- Java
- C/C++

There are a lot of caveats here. I'm ready for the questions and hate.
If you wanna fight about it, at least start by assuming that my reasons for choosing this list are probably different from yours.
I don't think that's true. And either way, I'm not sure whether "in fashion" is an important criteria for deciding whether you should learn a language or not.

#History/#Art thread – From my recent trip to Madurai/Tirunelveli. On Jain sites (some with a rich history dating back to at least the 3rd cent. BCE), early Pandyan rock-cut cave temples (7th-8th cent. CE) & the amazing Vettuvan koil.

Before I start on the places, the history around all this is fascinating & splits opinion. Is it apt to call the script Tamili/Tamil Brahmi? Did it develop independently in the Tamil country/come with the Jain monks from the north? Were 8,000 Jains actually impaled in Madurai?>
