Can't see UK changing its mind and placing a tariff on lamb imported from New Zealand in event of no deal.

(NZ has EU country-specific tariff-rate quota; allows 228,389 tn of NZ sheep& goat meat to be exported to EU tariff free annually. Post-Brexit EU/UK splitting quota 50/50)
Especially when you consider that the UK is actively trying to line up a free trade agreement with New Zealand.
But interesting that the British farming lobby is starting to make more noise. Having outsourced their protesting to the French for the last few decades, still an open question as to their influence over UK trade policy.

They're gonna gets weeks of training, says the Director of USCIS, whose agency *should* be performing these CFIs.

Ok, so a bit of a nerdy thread coming up, using Fujian province’s ETS to illustrate what’s so wrong with China’s pilot #carbon markets. #OCTT
I’m using Fujian in this thread, but many of the other pilot markets have the same problem. It should sound alarm bells in Beijing setting up the national carbon market and also for foreign companies eager to trade Chinese carbon.
After some small-scale trading in Fujian after last year’s compliance deadline, the local carbon permits went unchanged and untraded at 29.70 yuan from Nov. 28 last year until Mar. 8 this year.

New commentary by Monica Prasad in Politico about the benefits of a carbon tax over the Green New Deal. I really love some of Prasad's tax scholarship. But I think this argument is totally wrong. 1/ politico.com/agenda/story/2…
Her central thesis is that progressive are wrong to criticize carbon taxation. She argues that views on the policy instrument are distorted by economists inability to accurately model tax (environmental) benefits, instead focussing on tax (economic) costs 2/
She then cites Denmark as example of the power of carbon taxation to unleash change. I disagree. Danish environmental taxes were shaped by industrial lobbies, never threatened politically connected groups. Great book by Daugbjerg and Svendsen on this palgrave.com/us/book/978033… 3/

Good to see this new @CEA report acknowledging that the 2017 individual market premium increases were a transitional phenomenon, particularly after a year of WH claims that the individual market was in a “death spiral”: whitehouse.gov/wp-content/upl….
Remain proud of this January 2017 report from the Obama CEA that predicted exactly this outcome when it was far from conventional wisdom: obamawhitehouse.archives.gov/sites/default/….
One analytic quibble with the new report: I doubt much of the change in insurer stock prices since 2010 is due to the ACA. Looking at stock price changes around key moments in repeal debate makes it hard to believe the ACA mattered much one way or the other.
