Since I've already upset the anti-Trump crowd by pointing out that a request for a corruption investigation without evidence of a quid pro quo is probably not sufficient cause for impeachment, I guess I should upset some other people by talking about the other aspect of this...

On accusations against Biden, which are tangential to Trump's actions, what we know:

1) Biden did actively work to get the top Ukranian Prosecutor (Shokin) fired.

2) Shokin was investigating a company where Hunter Biden was a board member.

3) Shokin was incredibly corrupt.

Now because of overwhelming evidence for 3, there was plenty of support for the efforts to get Shokin removed. It also explains the threats to get it to happen, which were widely supported.

With that said, Biden probably wasn't the right point person because of 2.

However, there are also several mitigating aspects to 2. First, it seems that the request to get him fired was after the investigation had been on hold. Second, unclear whether Shokin was actually pushing the investigation or it was forced on him. Evidence points to latter.

With that said, a few more conclusions that I think are fair:

4) Hunter Biden likely only received that board position because of who his dad was given his background.

5) Biden was not fully honest about extent of his discussions w Hunter re Burisma.

Finally, it is worth noting that the prosecutor who replaced Shokin told Bloomberg news he has not seen evidence of wrongdoing by the Bidens: bloomberg.com/news/articles/…
