We'll be live tweeting soon: #ClimateWeekNYC workshop on Climate Activism docs.wixstatic.com/ugd/9a5b93_898…
We begin with a soulful acknowledgement by workshop leader Cecilia Lim of the land and the original inhabitants of New York City - the Lenape
We have an anti-oppression framework and a practice of deep listening.

We’ve learned to feel better than or worse than other people.

Healing, from our perspective, involves emoting, for example crying and laughing.
How many of us have wanted to leave the movement because we could not share our emotions or feelings?
Listening pairs on these prompts:

What is something you've done, big or small, that’s had a positive impact on our planet?

What is a life affirming way you sustain yourself in this work?
After listening, we appreciate with one of the 3 H’s: hand shake, high five, or hug :)
Sustaining All Life has provided a space for me where I can do the emotional healing work, make decisions and take actions.
Those hard emotions that get in our way as climate activists can flow past like water under the bridge #ClimateWeekNYC
We listen to each other's stories of activism.

"One of the ways the oppressive system works is by keeping us from knowing we’re winning. I firmly believe that we’re winning."
"Because I was so worried about doing it correctly I wasn’t taking steps. I used these tools to join an organization and take action without worrying about doing the exact right thing."
"We are socialized to ignore our feelings and pretend that things are fine. I used these tools to make space for me and other organizers to share our feelings while we are doing big and hard things."
"Indigenous heritage is looked down upon in society and I think it’s because we knew how to connect with the land. We knew not to take, take, take."
We closed with more listening, taking turns in small groups. A great ending, feeling inspired and connected!
