I felt a little bad for him at first, but that feeling quickly went away after reading this.
No recognition that this is exactly what he helped try to do to someone else. And the only reason he failed was because a ton of people spoke out against the outrage mob he almost created. 
Instead of learning a lesson about how trying to stir up outrage mobs based on old tweets is bad, he’s convinced it’s only bad when directed at him. Because his motives were doing it are pure.
