One other thing about UNBELIEVABLE, and this is a scriptwriting thing: I love the very obvious choice to have an "intern" working on the case, so that the veteran cops have to explain things to him how things work, different DNA tests, etc.
It's not subtle. It's clearly there to "solve a problem" - the problem of exposition and information. How do we let people know that YSTRs are different than DNA and why it matters? Oh! I know! Let's have an intern along for the ride.
It's obvious - but effective. Scripts are all about solving problems like that. And their chosen solution is better than having a bunch of veteran cops sit around explaining YSTRs to each other - when clearly they would already know.
