One of my goals with JustTheRealNews.com was to make it a resource for both students and journalists. Aggregating the text of the releases in one place gives you a much greater chance of finding a related government release on whatever you search for.

One thing that took me too long time to get right: SEO for pre-product market fit SaaS. Often times, owning your direct response keywords wont drive meaningful growth. You have to inject your brand into the current market convos, rather than waiting for them to get on your level.
I've worked with a few VPs who were unhappy (some even kind of angry?) that there wasn't more search volume for their industry or product... often in an industry that's existed for less than five years. Go figure huh?
That's why focusing on pain is such a good entry point with pre-product market fit, its just before a buyer recognizes they need a solution. It's the perfect time to get your educational content in front of them - before they have a consideration set formed.

One thing I worry about a lot is that the rising pressure to “regulate tech” will cause policymakers to create over-broad legislation that doesn’t actually solve problems & instead hurts small companies, nonprofits, & open source/content projects.
There are very real problems with the current state of the internet, especially with the ways information is shared and data is collected. But we need carefully tailored regulations to solve these problems while still allowing for the good parts of the internet to fluorish.
Facebook isn’t Medium. Google isn’t Wikipedia. Twitter isn’t Github. We need legal and policy approaches that recognize these differences and protect the good things we get from both the smaller websites and the larger ones.
