I don't think English newsmen ever look at a calendar from one year to the next.
Scottish court will hear this Friday (4th) and rule next Monday (7th) if it can send the extension request if Johnson refuses.
Parliament will be prorogued from Tuesday 8th for one week.
Mon 14th - State Opening of Parliament and Queen's Speech

Thurs 17th - EU summit.

Sat 19th - Letter asking for an extension

Mon 21st --- Sometime this week parliament votes for an election

Nov 28th - Polling day
It's going to be the stupidest Queen's speech ever. State Opening and Queen's Speech on Monday 14th, and then the Benn letter asking for an extension on Saturday 19th.

After that parliament dissolves for a general election. The shortest session of parliament ever. One week.

Political news in this country is knackered. It's not any one person, or group of people. It seems to be something wrong in the machinery of news.
Maybe it's a lack of money, or over reliance on their inside sources, I don't know.
Anything to do with Brexit, English news has been wrong at every stage. And the reason is quite simple and quite innocent. I don't think anyone has done a bad job on purpose
For the last three years the European Union has been presenting legal fact, and English media has almost entirely ignored it.

It seems to me that there's something quite primitive going on here. People are starting to treat the law with a kind of mysticism, and judges as a kind of magus.
It's just a law. It sets out the conditions that bring the law into effect, and the action that has to follow.
It's just a set of instructions. The obligation is entirely contained in the fact that it is an Act of Parliament.
That's why there are no loopholes.
I'll explain because I love explaining human behaviours.
The only objection Boris Johnson has to the Benn Act is that the government did not commission it. In his head, that undermines its authority.

But as this is the Friday, we know that parliament can no longer vote for anything even if it wanted to.

It is, thank fuck, too late.
You can check my working if you want. It's too late for a vote on Monday.
But parliament is being prorogued on Tuesday so it couldn't come then either.
Parliament is then off for the rest of next week, and it won't be open again until Monday 14th
But. When parliament does come back on Monday 14th it has to deal with the Queen's speech - redundant affair as it's bound to be.
Parliament will not vote for a withdrawal agreement that week.
And on Thursday 17th is the EU summit

Right now, walk away from the screens + find out what u r feeling about today. Listen to your gut. Put whatever desires u have into words. On paper is good. To someone who understands + does not judge is really good. "I want to ________". I really really really want _________."
Then just sit with that desire. Observe it like u wud a piece of art or jewelry or that new convertible. Just allow it to be. If u try to change it, it will morph into a different shape like smoke from a fire.

Neither piece is quite right IMHO
First of all, what has the Government said?

That they will respect the law, and that they will not extend

*SO* either the law doesn't apply or has a loophole, something else prevents the extension, or indeed someone else requests the extension
Ideas that can't happen are surely:
⛔️ writing 2 letters (the mandated one, and one saying the opposite) - this would be unlawful
⛔️ suspend the law through an Order of Council - this one (that was Major's fear) @ProfMarkElliott judges to be unlawful

Today is the 22nd and final day of the Horizon trial, second trial of the Bates v Post Office group litigation at the High Court. Anthony de Garr Robinson QC (left) for the Post Office arriving this morning. He will be making the PO's closing submissions for five hours today.
