They just cannot contemplate a world where Germany's money is better than theirs.
Because of course they can't. It's the underlying faith statement of Brexit. That somehow we're special and more important than everyone else

They can't reject the mindset that leads to diplomatic bullshit like this because doing so would smash the foundations of the Brexit myth
You can't negotiate as equals when your entire ideology depends on a principle of inequality.

being around judgmental people makes you more judgmental

sneering is viral. it's a coercive power dynamic: join in, and you too feel superior. refuse, and you implicitly join the target of ridicule.

it's very hard to avoid when it's around you. it's so much harder to be kind.
i have discovered repeatedly in my life that refusing to be around people who sneer and look down on others makes me a better, kinder person. i have seen the ways that being pulled into that networks of judgement, which all eventually self-cannibalize, makes me more of a jerk.
it's a slow, repeated process to learn when you just need to walk away, but sometimes, that's all you can do. people who exhibit this behavior get caught in a web. you can't be kind to objects of ridicule, because then all your friends will sneer at you, too. it keeps you in.

When we look at Genesis 1-2 and Psalm 8, we discover that work is a pre-Fall calling, and one that is connected to our glory!

Work is part of our glorious creational design!
Work is collaborating with God to cultivate His world...by reflecting God’s wise and loving order into the world.

However, if you are yelling and calling my wife and I names within a minute, you didn't want to talk. You wanted to put me in line. That's #abuse.
Me having been cautious with you, when you have a history of doing this, isn't a betrayal. Me refusing to put up with it anymore isn't a betrayal.

Refusing to let you hurt and control me isn't a betrayal. Even if you were used to it working on me.
"You did change when you came out as trans after all!" Yeah, I guess I did. I've started to value myself. If that upsets you, that's a you problem.

"You're everything wrong with the trans movement!" Look, if you think not wanting to be yelled at all the time is bad, get help.

1. Language's ability to inflict harm depends on power of who's wielding it & against whom it's being wielded. Not just individuals, ie, it's not about Bee/Ivanka or Roseanne/Jarrett, all of whom have power. It's about power of entities & ideas individuals are representing.
2. So when Bee goes after Ivanka for supporting an administration that's doing grievous harm to the bodies, families, lives of human beings, she's acting on behalf of less powerful people (immigrants ripped from their children) against the grotesquely powerful & abusive.
