A short thread on #work...

Why do we work?

1. For money/provision: But how much is enough? What about when we’re between jobs or retired?

2. For significance or status: But how high do you climb?

3. For meaning/purpose: But what if you don’t love your job?
When we look at Genesis 1-2 and Psalm 8, we discover that work is a pre-Fall calling, and one that is connected to our glory!

Work is part of our glorious creational design!
Work is collaborating with God to cultivate His world...by reflecting God’s wise and loving order into the world.
But the Fall is a loss of that glory; sin is a failure of vocation— our calling to worship and work rightly.

Because of the Fall, work is now “toil”: our efforts are resisted, our motives are tainted, and our lines of work are twisted.
From John 5 and Romans 8, we see that because of the work of the Father and the Son, our call to work has been renewed by the
power of the Spirit.

Now, for the Christian, our work is good when it sits at the intersection of God’s glory, the world’s good, and our joy.
