1. Its beyond comprehension the idiocy & immorality of Trump's abandonment of Syrian Kurds. The long explanation why - besides us walking away from an ally - comes later. First, possible motivation: Erdogan, who is eager to slaughter Kurds, presided over Trump Towers Istanbul..
2...opening ceremonies, where there was lots of smoochy-face between Erdogan and Trump. Erdogan called Trump shortly before the immoral abandonment. Second, Trump's ego: He says ISIS is done (it's not) so why stay? Third, Trump's ignorance: Theres a hell of a lot more at stake...
3...in Syria for American national security than just ISIS, which is sure to use this wonderful opening to grow, and fourth, Trump's immorality. The Kurds have fought alongside us, they were important to taking on ISIS, they are allies. But now Trump declares, "Meh, so what?...
4...we don't need them anymore. Our interests are done (they're not). Let them get slaughtered. I'll go back to tweeting about Fox News." Can you *imagine* us being able to gain a fighting ally in Middle East again, when weve made it clear we will use them and then cut and run?

Of course, even he can't get completely out of the neocon grip. Note that US troops r NOT being withdrawn from #Syria, only "pulled back." i.e., they won't fight a Turkish invasion, but will be there as tripwire should gov of Syria try to take back control of its own territory.
Because the #Kurds, now seeing what fools they were to ally with the US, will now likely negotiate a resolution with #Syria which they would much prefer to Turkish occupation.

My thread on the #Kurds

#Kurds are a very ancient ethnic group whose origins are lost in the mists of time. Their distinguishing feature is that they speak Kurdish which is a very old group of languages which predate Islam. The Kurds played a role in Islam - Saladin was a Kurd.
For modern purposes we have to start with the dying days of the Ottoman Empire. The genocide of Armenians from Anatolian Turkey actually occurred in the heavily Kurdish parts of the Empire (now Turkish Republic) - accounts indicate it occurred with the collaboration of locals.
The expulsion and killing of Armenians would create a much more homogenous region in which Kurds would be the overwhelming majority - with the Empire breaking up after WWI, national self determination passions would be born among many tribes. If Arabs can be free why not Kurds?

1. What's going on with Pompeo, Ocalan & US policy? This is my post on Syrian War Crimes Report ordered under 2019 NDAA. By the time Mattis resigned this project should have been completed. What I have been reporting and attempting to prove via since Jan. may already be exposed.
2. Kurds generally know they, their parents, grand parents etc have been victims of repeated genocidal wars of aggression. But Turkey, one of the #Kurds historic tormentors, joined @NATO and the truth drifted into a fog of the Cold War.
3. The Bush41 1991 Gulf War exposed the brutality of the Iraqi regime including atrocities committed against the Kurds but still Turkey stayed the loyal NATO member permitted to share in US and NATO economic & military power and continued its own apartheid & war against Kurds.
