This is fascinating. Tucker Carlson tries to provide Trump and Republicans a fallback position to stem the push towards holding Trump accountable. Thing is, Trump will never accept or admit he did anything wrong. dailycaller.com/2019/10/03/tuc…
The whole "Trump is an unusual President" argument rests on Trump at least occasionally attempting to act as a president, but he really doesn't. The attempts of his propagandists to steer him toward the (relative) light is the evidence.
Notice that they've included Trump's favorite conspiracy theory in an effort to curry favor, the conspiracy theory that has pushed Trump off the rails that Carlson almost certainly knows is false and yet has pushed for months anyway.

This is an interesting communication strategy from the Speaker that I think I approve of. Diminishing Trump is not a bad strategy. Don't get me wrong, he's a menace, but painting him as the ranting uncle v. the boogey man could help with public opinion. talkingpointsmemo.com/news/pelosi-tr…
Impeachment is obviously political, but Trump and the Republicans' strategy is to try to make it explicitly about politics rather than the underlying deeply disturbing issues. This moves it away from that and also depersonalizes it, another savvy strategy, IMO.
Trump is shrinking before our eyes as he gets more and more obsessed and Pelosi's message plays into that narrative. As a President, he's increasingly irrelevant in terms of the work Presidents are expected to do, except for the fact that he is President.

@rpondiscio He's wondering how we get students to be "in" not just for school, but for the larger civic project that is the United States. It's a worthwhile question to wonder about and I think school reform has done a lot of damage on this front.
@rpondiscio I teach writing and the primary emotion students feel towards writing is alienation, almost total disengagement from writing as a tool for expression, thinking, and communication. This is a direct consequence of the school reform movement.

Off the top, the Sun is reporting via government sources that the city's relief line is estimated at $13B, but it was last estimated at $7B, so if, in fact, the province's plan costs $10.9B it would actually be $3.9B more expensive not $2.1B less expensive? What am I missing?
It's important to get this straight, because if Ford wants to claim he is saving money with his relief line plan, it appears that isn't correct. Will wait for more details from the announcement

Rachel is the long-time friend of my partner Mielle. She's utterly brilliant, so even though I hadn't read any of her fiction, I had high expectations.

Dad was detained in a #Texas detention center where @RAICESTEXAS consulted. Dad accepted a deportation to be quickly reunited w/ his infant child. However, the Dad was deported & NOT his child. The now 8-month-old baby has been in ORR custody for 4 months. #EndFamilySeparation
