The whole "Trump is an unusual President" argument rests on Trump at least occasionally attempting to act as a president, but he really doesn't. The attempts of his propagandists to steer him toward the (relative) light is the evidence.
Notice that they've included Trump's favorite conspiracy theory in an effort to curry favor, the conspiracy theory that has pushed Trump off the rails that Carlson almost certainly knows is false and yet has pushed for months anyway.
