Health care is the top pocketbook concern of most Americans.

Democratic candidates should stop bashing each other in an area where they mostly agree & elevate the conversation to 5 areas where they can lead. 1/ usatoday.com/story/opinion/…
First they should frame the debate in the “good vs evil” debate that it is.

Trump is both eliminating health protections & lying about it. All candidates need to hammer that point. 2/
Point 1: Democrats should broaden the conversation to a vision of health for the next decade. 3/
Point 2: Candidates should speak to the acute insecurity and disconnection Americans feel from a health care system where patients and healers are secondary to the industrial complex that surrounds it. 4/
Point 3: Americans expect someone to address health care affordability with urgency. Trump has failed. Americans will vote for someone who they believe will succeed. 5/
Point 4: Day 2 the agenda should be clear. Right every wrong done by executive order to women, the disability community, immigrants & the LGBTQ community.

Also it’s time to appoint people from those communities to run the next Dept of HHS. 6/
Point 5: Whether you believe in single payer or some other path to universal coverage, the bill that comes to their desk will come from Congress.

Candidates should commit to whether they are committed to guaranteed universal coverage or just their version. 7/
If Democrats can elevate the debate and draw the obvious contrast with Trump on health care, they can not only beat Trump but speak to the vision Americans will vote for. /end
