I don't know who needs to hear this, but when relatives get old and are dying, they get whatever they want.

You want M&Ms, Dad? Sure.

A hamburger made of Krispy Kreme doughnuts, Mom? Ew, but ok. (Where was THIS mom when she was feeding us sprouts and protein shakes?)

A puppy? Ok.

Except they don't get to poison you or kids. No Fox. No hate. No guilt trips.

They don't get to have their lives and gobble yours, too.

Because what happens is, when you put your life - and attention - on the back burner, you mortgage your future and that of your kids.

You work 70-hour weeks interrupted by radiology, chemo, falls, and you sleep at lunch or decide you'll catch up when you're dead.

You watch the years go by: another Republican, another war, another recession, & you see weird things happening like Bush and Cheney getting away with war crimes, having to cut more prescriptions and medical care from your budget, your retirement going toward survival...

You see news and gosh, it looks like Democrats are losing a lot of ground, but you know Pelosi and Schumer are in charge and you like them, and what do you know anyway? There jobs are a lot harder than they look. You trust them, because there's no time to question them.

Until one day you realize that an election has been stolen again. You see @RepMaxineWaters up there demanding impeachment, joined by a spare few, and you read that Nancy Pelosi gave her hell for it. What?

Then you see opportunities left and right to stop Kavanaugh, but the road is shockingly cleared for him and then you read that was the work of Feinstein and Schumer as much as any GOP extremist.

You see Pelosi taking about passing legislation for the "cheeldren" but never impeachment, and every time she does, you see the faces of the missing in your minds eye, and they look like composites based on this:

You wonder if the missing were stuffed into freight cars and shipped off to China for sex slavery and body parts by those who have friendly relationships with shipping magnates.

So now here we are with a government slipping into authoritarianism, because when we mortgaged our futures, they were bad loans.

We're upside down in the mortgages we took out on our futures, and now it's the kids who are mortgaging their futures to pay.

I can't with this.
