Rudy Giuliani and Ben Carson are two public figures who baffle me. They were both widely admired in their field and could have spent the rest of the lives coasting on their well-earned, respect and celebrity without getting themselves into the bog of the Trump administration.
Carson being a world-renowned brain surgeon with an admirable life story. And Giuliani having cleaned up New York and shepherded NY through the 9/11 attacks.
Can never discount that possibility. But it's hard me to fathom anyone goes to work for Trump out of a noble sense of duty or public service. They both could have done a lot more good in other places.
There is a difference between Jim Mattis who can serve with integrity as SECDEF under Trump and Giuliani simply being some sort of personal enforcer for Trump.
