The purpose of these statements is to suggest, if there was evidence of a quid pro quo, these members of Congress would take it seriously
Today, Bill Taylor, the top diplomat to Ukraine, testified that there was an explicit quid pro quo

Trump withheld military aid for the purpose of pressuring Ukraine to investigate the Bidens and the Democrats

So these Republicans have some explaining to do
Congressman Graves: "There’s no evidence of quid-pro-quo...You can’t impeach a president just because you hate him."

1. There was a REMARKABLE exchange on a press call with Mark Zuckerberg yesterday that got lost in the shuffle.

In his speech last Thursday, Zuckerberg invoked the legacy of MLK Jr. to defend how Facebook operates

This didn't go over well with King's daughter, @BerniceKing
@BerniceKing 2. @BerniceKing noted that disinformation campaigns by politicians (which Facebook now permits and profits from) created the conditions that led to her father's assassination

@BerniceKing 3. On the press call, Zuckerberg was asked about @BerniceKing's comments.

Zuckerberg said that he believed that @BerniceKing's analysis about her father's assassination was correct but we shouldn't JUST FOCUS ON THE DOWNSIDE

He was give multiple opportunities to clarify. It was not a slip of the tongue. And Mulvaney was recounting conversations he had with Trump.

Note: Trump himself is also clear on the difference. That’s the premise of his bragging to Billy Bush was about: He can assault women, and because he’s “a star”, they can’t do anything about it. What is quite clear is he knows they aren’t consenting — and that’s why he likes it.
Research repeatedly bears this out: Men are actually quite good at detecting the difference between a woman who desires sexual contact with you and one who rejects it.
