From Kieran Egan’s _The Educated Mind_, a concise, precise explanation of meta-rationality (“Ironic understanding”) as transcending but including rationality (“Philosophic understanding”).

[I don’t care for this terminology, but mine is awful too.]
Ontological fluidity (not taking categories as True) is characteristic of meta-rationality. These two paragraphs come immediately before the one in my previous tweet.
Meta-rationality, unlike pomo, “remains open to the possibility that … knowledge, truth, and objectivity might not be confined only to contingent agreements, that Western science and rationality might be discourses more privileged than some others in terms of access to reality.”
