PS/ the 20 examples in the thread above barely scratch the surface of #OrchestraDiversity in the 21st century. Hardly needs to be said that there also composers that regularly write for them that aren’t part of Dead White Male musical canon.
PS2/ the examples above also don’t include other types of large ensembles (e.g. Gamelan) which are indigenous to non-European countries that also have a thriving scene of performers, composers, and audiences. #OrchestraDiversity
PS3/ I could have pulled examples of nearly all the ensembles mentioned to show the #OrchestraDiversity of the US alone. Indeed, many of the examples are actually from the US.
