Green parties have made historic gains, according to the latest forecast.

Overall, the left and the centre have gained ground, prompting speculation about a reshuffle of the multi-party government.

These are the present seven members of the government (federal council). Two each from the Swiss People's Party (far right), Social Democrats (left), FDP/Liberals (centre-right) and one Christian Democrat (centre-right).

As for the senate, the final composition won't be known until after a second round of voting
