The Turkish-Syrian border is 822km (511 miles) long.

Over the past 19 days, @ErinNBCNews, Dmitry Solovyov and I have reported along a stretch covering 725km (450 miles) of it.
We’ve spoken to at least 115 people in Syria and Turkey; we’ve been shot at and witnessed gunbattles, watched cities bombarded and burned, met people whose lives have been irrevocably altered by mindless violence, trailed by undercover cops, questioned at checkpoints...
We’ve broadcasted live from cornfields, rooftops, border crossings, villages and hilltops; been stuck in sandstorms and thunderstorms; discovered unexploded munitions and met undiscovered musicians; contributed to a dozen written stories; documented dozens of voices & stories...
Sought answers and found only more questions...

And still we have stories to tell.

Journalism isn’t sitting in a studio spouting partisan hot takes.

It’s going out into the world and seeking knowledge and understanding, and attempting to approach truth.
