it’s nice that the city has digitized court records and made them accessible on the computers at the clerk’s office... but a) why can’t i access the files from home and b) why are there so many files from the wrong case associated with the case i’m looking at?
the number of documents from the payne v city of charlottesville suit that are incorrectly digitally filed under the washington v fields case makes me really nervous. are there files for this case i’m not seeing because they’re stuck under some other case number?!
this is making me long for PACER. absolute madness. you can’t search by case number?! and there are duplicate entries for the exact same party name search but the duplicate record doesn’t have all the associated records attached to it?!
and they... don’t keep the physical paperwork anymore? so if there’s a scanning mistake (which there clearly has been here) they have to get the documents from the attorneys associated with the case? this is maddening.
i’m extremely sorry for subjecting the clerk to my intense line of questioning about the possibility of missing documents because the last person she heard from about inaccuracies in this case file was jason kessler.
