That makes Darwin's influence (albeit unintended) marked on two of the most deleterious ideologies of the past 200 years - Communism and Nazism
"Lebensraum" was the central ideology of the Nazi party, and the geopolitical goal of Hitler
To expand north and east and make more resources and living space available to the "superior" Aryan race
Very likely inspired by ideas of survival of the fittest in Darwin

If one regards Darwin's influence as foundational on both these ideologies, albeit in different ways, then you begin to wonder if his overall influence on the human race was a net positive, notwithnstanding his enormous scientific achievements
