The anti-Labour bias on #r4today has been so extraordinary in the first hour that anywhere else in the world it would be a scandal. Remember that the BBC is a publically funded broadcaster and it is meant to be following election rules. I can give 3 examples. 1/
Not content simply to read out right wing newspaper headlines attacking Labour and Corbyn, it now feeds these headlines and reads them out. Was that the purpose of inviting the ex-Labour MP Ian Austin on to give 10 minute uninterrrupted smear of Corbyn? /2
It seems only Labour policies require fact checking, even though on the same programme Tory policies are announced. And what is this fact checking? Simply reading out the Tory and CBI attacks on Labour's policies. How is that independent fact checking? 3/
Having failed to get Margaret Hodge on to have another 10 minute diatribe against Corbyn, let's just make up segment where we interview the Tory candidate of Barking and make the absurd allegation that Labour has 'forced out' female Jewish MPs and repeat the A/S smear. 4/
And because we can't get Margaret Hodge on, let's just repeat old speeches of her attacking Corbyn anyway. Oh and let's get the Brexit party candidate to attack Corbyn to. Shall we let anyone respond to these smears? Of course we won't. 5/
That was the first hour. In that hour do you think any of the other parties were treated with the same sustained attack and bias? They were not. This is disgraceful journalism of a supposedly impartial public broadcaster. 6/
Oh and one last thing. Can someone please tell @BBCNormanS that the Tory party is not the government. It is not the government responding to Labour's policies. It is the Tory party. I don't know how it's escaped his attention that we are now in an election. 7/
