When I tell people how many #IT #Certifications I have, I get asked two questions

- How did you get all of them?
- How did you afford all of them?

Then they think I am lying when I tell them it cost me under $500 bucks for the first 7 - 10 certs I got.

I know prices have went up since I got these but it can still apply

First, look up ALL the IT certs you want/need to advance in your field. For example, if you are just starting out, you will need A+, Net+, Security+. Find the cost of the exams & books
Next, go to your boss & find out what the training budget or policy is. If they don't have one, they need one. ESPECIALLY if you are in tech. So for this example, My boss agreed to reimburse me for EVERY certification exam and training materials I get as long as I pass.

You’d think that such a huge change to the way we vote would be in response to an equally huge threat, but no. Electoral fraud is incredibly rare in the UK: out of 44.4 million votes cast in 2017, there was one conviction - that’s 0.000063%.

1/ Personal experience. I ran at least 3 businesses on the side while working for the man. I rented an office, hired employees, and worked with them remotely while doing a good job for my employers.

Look at HOW Kemp is justifying holding back applications - a typo or a missing hyphen keeping someone from voting, based on inconsistencies with past records.

Past records? What would the source of those records be?
The database of this organization run out of a former home in Kennesaw that oversees all state elections for Kemp...
and who was hacked in 2017, exposing 7.5M records?

(Interestingly, there are only 6.6M registered voters in Georgia.)

@AstorAaron @TheAtlantic @davidfrum That may feel good. In reality, the problem is US. It's apathy. We complain or sit out because we don't get our way. Congress is elected by US. If voter participation is < 50%, we deserve the congress we get. Unless we take power with 60-70% participation, it stays as is #vote.
@AstorAaron @TheAtlantic @davidfrum Things we can do to improve the situation:

1. Only have elections every two years
2. This includes all local ones too - city council, school board, etc
3. Make sure that local elections are in the same years as national ones
4. Then get out and vote every 2 years - no excuses!

1. 2020, we need to control the states that will give us the majority of the electoral votes
2. This means we need to win governorships and state legislatures
3. So we can determine redistricting
4. Be inclusive/aware of demographic trends for redistricting.

Let’s add a little context to the discussion of voting security in the US. To do that, I’m going to do something Computer Scientists are bad at - I’m going to talk about history. Specifically, let’s look at the Help America #Vote Act (HAVA) of 2002. 1/
The reason to talk about HAVA is to start recognizing some of the challenges of paper ballot-based voting. HAVA came about largely because paper ballots were proving to be extremely difficult to manage. 2/
For instance, paper ballots are expensive (they’re not printed on standard college-rule paper), and they’re not reusable across elections. You’ve also got to try and guess who is going to show up to the poll, and how many ballots you’ll need in each language. 3/
