Throughout the month of October, in both tweets and public statements Rep. Jordan dismissed the whistleblower because he didn't have firsthand information.

Today, Rep. Jordan has changed his tune, seems to think the whistleblower is important after all.
The Trump follower consensus response to this tweet is that the whistleblower is important because they hope he'll embarrass Democrats.

But that has nothing to do with whether Trump abused his office by asking Zelensky to announce an investigation into a political opponent.
The GOP response is basically that they would like to change the subject.

Which, yeah, I'm sure that would be nice for them, but they really should, at some point, get around to offering an alternative to the conclusion that Trump withheld military aid for personal profit.

Four witnesses testified that Trump conditioned military aid and a WH visit on Ukrainian actions related to Biden and the CrowdStrike conspiracy theory.

A fifth didn't recall, but then "refreshed my memory" after the others testified.

Contemporaneous docs and texts confirm.
The White House chief of staff also made a public statement that the quid pro quo occurred and that we should "get over it," before walking back that statement.

So, y'know, there's plenty of reason to believe there's a there there.
Additionally, more than one witness testified that the Ukrainians were aware of the demand, and ultimately conceded to it.

The only reason the scheme fell apart was bc the whistleblower complaint became public knowledge, so Trump released the funds.

Even though it has now gone to Connecticut's highest court and bounced off of SCOTUS, this case is still at an early stage.

At the trial court, we're just at the motion to dismiss. Some justices may prefer to nail down the factual basis before granting cert.
Put it this way: gun manufacturers would prefer a blanket pronouncement: you cannot sue under state consumer protection laws.

But one or more justices may be thinking less categorically—i.e., you cannot sue under state consumer protection laws, except in X, Y, Z circumstance.
For those justices thinking less categorically, developing the factual basis for the families' claims against Remington Arms would be helpful.

(Note: SCOTUS does not give reasoning for why it declined to take up a case, so this is pure conjecture.)

There's a theory floating around right-wing Twitter now that *Giuliani* wanted to condition a WH meeting on an announcement of investigations into Burisma and 2016, but that there's no evidence that he was following Trump's orders.

Taylor says not so:
Also, the idea that the Ukrainians weren't aware of Giuliani's demands seems not to be aging very well.
Also, well, er . . . Giuliani hasn't been shy about claiming he was doing it all for Trump.

The #Whistleblower could well blow the lid off three-plus years of Trump/Russia shenanigans and expose Trump as the traitor he is, for all the world to see.

Let’s break it down:

[THREAD]
1/ Per reports, the whistleblower reported on a “promise” Trump made to a “foreign leader” on the phone. The only foreign leader of consequence Trump spoke to on the phone in the relevant timeframe is—mirabile dictu—Vladimir Putin.
2/ Putin must realize that Trump is on thin ice, that impeachment is coming, that even Russian cyber-sabotage can’t make him win an election he loses by 8 million popular votes. If Vova wants any more juice, the time to squeeze the orange is now.

Martin is an American historian, biographer, playwright, gay rights activist and radical.

Writer or editor of over 25 books, Martin founded the Center for Lesbian and Gay Studies at CUNY.

Duberman grew up near New York City & earned a B.A. from Yale and a Ph.D. from Harvard. He taught history at Yale, then Princeton, where he became involved in activism. He signed the “Writers and Editors War Tax Protest” in 1968, refusing to pay taxes to protest the Vietnam War.
During those years, Martin endured years of therapy in an attempt to “cure” his homosexuality. With the advent of Stonewall and the gay liberation movement, Martin embraced his homosexuality and incorporated it into his activism. He came out in a New York Times essay in 1872.

Turing broke the Nazi Enigma code, playing a crucial role in the allied victory in WWII.

Turing spent much of his early life separated from his parents, as his father worked in the British administration of India.

At 13, he was sent to a large boarding school, with a rigid syllabus, so Turing studied advanced modern scientific ideas, such as relativity, on his own.
In his seminal 1936 paper, "On Computable Numbers," Turing proved that the theory of a universal algorithmic method of determining truth in math cannot exist.

He also introduced the notion of a universal computing machine, the "Turing Machine” — the basis of the modern computer.
