we have two engineering roles to fill -- integrations engineer and generalist software engineer with an emphasis on security. we have a small team and openings are fairly rare.

in one more week we are going to start lining up interviews, so here is my pitch (and request).
as we all know, only white dudes ever apply via the website, so our pipeline is pretty full of those. emily's job is to hire the best candidate for the job out of the pipeline; my job is to fill the pipeline with awesome diverse candidates.

i have not yet done my job well. :(
i've been reaching out to folks via linkedin and email, but here's my offer.

if you're from an under-represented group, ✨no need to apply✨. just send a DM or email (charity@honeycomb.io) with your ph# and a few good times to call this weekend. slack/gchat if you prefer chat.
i'm happy to talk on the phone for 10-15 min, then give you my honest opinion about whether you might be exactly what we're looking for.

we will hire the best person for the job, without regard for gender, race, etc. HOWEVER, we define "best" very ... uniquely. it is not the longest resume or shiniest pedigree.

...and we try very hard to make sure the interview doesn't fill you with shame and self-loathing.
we truly, genuinely want to see you at your best. if there is anything else we can do (or /not/ do) to lessen your fear and dread, please tell us. we will do our best!

oh, and half the engineers at the company are women, the team ships consistently and collaboratively, the amount of toil and firefighting is so low you'll wonder if we're lying to you. it's the highest performing team i've ever seen, no shit. <3
