Oh yes, Saturday was awful, utterly awful. I should have known better. ☺️

In my head I imagined describing the roles encouragingly to a few qualified but hesitant women & queers, figuring out together if it was a fit and coaching thru any severe interview jitters.
Basically I wanted to be the inner anti-imposter --the nudge to get you over that last hurdle and in the queue.

And... I vaguely remember a few of those! Y'all were 💕sweethearts💕. Thank you SO much, seeing your names in Lever today made it all worth it. 😍
But I selected so hard for kind and encouraging, that ... nobody selected themselves out.

* Over half of responders appeared to be white or Asian dudes.
* Nearly half had no relevant experience
* Many were international residents

I was VERY CLEAR on the latter two: No Hire.
I had intentionally left the door wide open for URMs, bc I don’t want to police anyone’s challenges. Dudes have issues too.

But most of these guys did not seem ... particularly crippled by imposter syndrome. Many were *quite* aggressive about taking up my time.
<dude> *stream of stuff* —
<me> pardon! but are you a member of an under-represented group in tech?
<dude> “uh? Oh, uh, yeah sure. Moms from Honduras, that counts right?”
Anyway. I talked to over 60 people, between email, DM, text and phone. Many of them were very, very sweet, and I do not want to shit on y’all. I super appreciate that you cared and reached out. 🌈💕

It was just way overload for me. After that I slept for 40 hours straight.
I think the seeds of a good idea are there. But

🌼 Twitter threads == most people wont read the instructions or context
🌼 Be much more specific about my intended audience
🌼 Prescreen somehow? I dunno. People were showing up to have a conversation just because they wanted
to have a conversation with me, or wanted career advice, or technical consulting, or out of curiosity. Some hadn’t even read the job listing and just expected me to personally recap it for them. 😤

TLDR, I met some delightful people. Next challenge: sieve off the rest.
