Was a bit bored, so thought I’d look at my #FPL season so far and tell its story 📖

Going alright now as you can see – a couple of good weeks have pushed me to respectability 😅

But how did I get here?

I opened with a solid 78, then banked FT in a low scoring (for all) 42 GW2 🏦

GW3 mini-WC as KdB, Pukki and, er, Ceballos (d'oh) came in for the overhyped (👉🏻@WGTA_Nick👈🏻) Perez and the 🍒pair Wilson and Fraser.

63pts saw me rise to 654k 📈

A good start looked on 👀

*Arrested Development Narrator: But it wasn’t*

I’d go on to endure SEVEN miserable weeks of low scores. In EVERY GW from GW4 to GW10, my team scored less than 60 points 😭

And it was pretty rough.

It felt like nothing was going my way, pretty much the entire time🤦🏻‍♂️

I bobbed around listlessly the millions. Many seemed to be in a similar (leaky) boat 🛶

I avoided hits to minimise lost points, but was lost myself in the #FPL wilderness for a long while, wondering why it was so hard!😩🤔

I even wildcarded GW7 to try to turn it around...

And again it just didn't click – Aurier's early red card hamstrung differential cappo Son 😡
Otamendi was a disaster 🤦🏻‍♂️
Pukki and Firmino were instantly looking dispensible 🗑️

But, falling prey to sunk cost fallacy, I thought I should persevere for a few more weeks...

Sadly, in the next 3 weeks after wielding the Wildcard, my OR fell even further 🕳️

Luckily, many other managers seemed to be sharing my torrid time, so my rank never dropped *too far*😅

Nonetheless...

H1 Wildcard Verdict: FAIL ❌

By the time GW10 was over, I'd had enough 💁🏻‍♂️

The cautious approach wasn't working.

To add salt, that week Mendy lost the assist and KdB the goal due to Dilva's phantom touch😢

At 1.4m OR I had to change it up. The time felt right to adopt a more proactive approach 🎲

I started with this man.

I’ve called him Liverpool’s “clutch player” on the pod.

Tho he didn’t score against Man Utd – the game which convinced me to buy – his clear explosive potential was too scary to ignore.

Caution shedded. Sadio in for hit 💉 (Maupay v NOR too)

And it was the first time I'd seen 60+ since GW3!

Son/Wilson, sold on a hit, were outscored by Mane alone. But despite an xG of 1.06, punt Maupay couldn't find the net.

Obviously, I lucked out BIG TIME with the defence: 42, with Soy 14 off the bench (no Mendy) JAM XL!

But another hit was brewing 💉

Another goal v 🦅 following his hat trick v 😇, and Arsenal (8 in 8 at the time) next = I couldn't ignore Vardy any longer.

Next 6? ARS bha EVE WAT avl NOR 🔥

Captain material.

Another fear-led buy. Just hopefully 1 week early 🤞🏻

Bye bye Sterling and Maupay, buy buy Vardy (c) and Tielemans for another hit...

And it worked again!

As I said on the pod, it felt already written that he'd score. The assist by YT, and him grabbing the assist for Maddy's g, were huge bonuses. As was Soy, otb AGAIN🙈

What a difference 2 Gameweeks make😬

GW12 top 100k rank was cool. It's great when your luck comes in!

Nonetheless, calculated hits have been an effective short term tactic, to bet against those who (like I was) play cautiously and hope their Gameweek comes to them.

So onwards and upwards... I hope 🚀🤞🏻

I'm aiming to avoid overmanagement(1) as I try to climb, whilst remaining alert for opportunities to be proactive 🧗🏻‍♂️🧐

Relieved I've turned it around, but don't want to overplay my hand. Long way to go!
