I wonder how many who are saying they prefer this or that media-approved candidate really wants that candidate with a whole heart or have they been browbeaten by three years or false narratives about 2016 to support the candidate they really want.
Far too many are chasing after the white working-class voter who 'abandoned Democrats because Clinton didn't talk about jobs and the economy.' The top three words in her speeches were workers, economy, and jobs.

It is a knowing and deliberate lie to say Clinton did not talk about the economy - a deliberate lie to deflect from the simple fact they did not cover Clinton's policies at all.
It is so much easier to say Hillary did not talk about policy than admit they simply did not cover it because they were dupes of Republican and Russian disinformation. They have spent years now shoring up their false narrative, interviewing whining white Trump voters.
And so we have a few campaigns chasing this elusive white-working class voter who will vote for a Democrat if...

But what is that if?

It's pretty fucking important.
Anyway, that is not why Clinton lost. It's the racism, stupid.

You don't fight racism by saying, okay, you win, we will only run white candidates.

You fight racism by running candidates that challenge us to do better, to listen to the better angels of our nature, so to speak.
You don't fight racism by protecting racists from candidates of color, you fight racism by exposure, by running more and more candidates of color. Forced habituation works!

And really, the closeness of Clinton's loss (stolen!) is due as much to the impediments to Black voting
and the effectiveness of voter suppression in Black communities, not just through Voter ID and purges, but also through amplification of attacks to discourage Blacks thinking of voting for Clinton - the Crime Bill, for example.
If the Democratic Party wants to win, the answer is not seeking a white working-class chupacabra, but instead focusing on turning out the Black and Latino voters who will be excited by a candidate who includes them in their priorities.
Increased turnout in minoritized communities will help far more than seeking the never-was-never-will-be Democratic defectors. They defected on social issues - race, abortion, and gay rights. They won't come back & we should not seek them back.
So instead of supporting the candidates of fear, support the candidates of hope: Harris, Castro, Booker!
