@sam_vinograd @andrewzimmern IMO, it is likely because he doesn’t understand the standards of the profession of arms, the requirements of a professional military, the ethos and values associated with soldiering, the individual accountability required in military organizations, the need for discipline in war.
@sam_vinograd @andrewzimmern He has likely never been curious about or studied the nature of modern warfare, the dynamics of just war theory, or the essence of the uniquely American way of war.
@sam_vinograd @andrewzimmern Most importantly, he doesn’t understand the elements of transformational leadership or the need for shared trust - built on character and understandable actions - found on the battlefield. He wrongly thinks soldiers are “killing machines” that should be “unleashed.”
@sam_vinograd @andrewzimmern And don’t miscount: he’s lacking in character and personal values, and wants to please those he sees as “tough guys.” He wants to be a “tough guy,” but he doesn’t really understand what that entails. He’d never make it in the military.
