2. Democracies have generally required a healthy, vibrant center-right—confident it can compete in, and win, elections. Partisan coalitions in the United States are constantly reshuffling, realigning along new axes. But sometimes, instead of adapting, the political right hardens.
3. A conservatism defined by ideas can hold its own against progressivism, winning converts to its principles and evolving. A conservatism defined by identity reduces the complex calculus of politics to a simple arithmetic question—and at some point, the numbers no longer add up.

1. I argued in January that impeachment is best regarded as a process, not an outcome—a rule-bound procedure for adjudicating the most serious claims against a president. theatlantic.com/magazine/archi…
2. One nugget that didn’t make it into the final draft? Two sitting Vice Presidents actually requested that the House initiate impeachment proceedings against them, to give them a chance to clear their names from the charges opponents had leveled against them.
3. I think that’s more than a good fact for trivia night (although, to be sure, it’s that, too). It’s a reminder that once charges are circulating, we need some sort of mechanism for resolving them—and, as the president’s defenders point out, the courts largely can’t do that.

I was speaking to a room full of first-time founders today.

I asked each person to share their #1 challenge.

Half of them said, “there is too much to do” or some variation of that.

My response was to tell them that they need to find the one thing worth focusing on right now.
First time founders feel overwhelmed and like there’s too much to do.

Second time founders learn how to raise money and operate their businesses at the same time without complaining.

Third time founders find the right thing to focus on right now and always seem calm.
As a founder, feeling overwhelmed is like deciding to drive during rush hour and saying there are too many cars on the road.

Just turn down the windows and blast the radio because everything will be ok in time.
