oh dear heavens. reminder, at the same hearing @AOC asked Zuckerberg when he had informed Peter Thiel about Cambridge Analytica and he entirely waffled his answer. (1) An employee of Thiel's Palantir was reported to have assisted Cambridge Analytica set up its scraping operation.
Facebook treated the entire "breach" as a PR cover-up for years rather than making sure data wouldn't be misused. Facebook's chasing down certification from guys who took and sold data happened AFTER 2016 brexit vote and AFTER 2016 US election. Again, Thiel is on Facebook board.
Makes this flashback during the hearing feel a bit prescient. When Palantir or Thiel surface to Zuckerberg during hearings, weird things happen. @SenatorCantwell @aoc
@SenatorCantwell @AOC If I were anyone with jurisdiction over finance / securities, I would haul in Zuckerberg, Sandberg, Thiel and maybe Andreessen about Facebook's SEC settlement and figure out what really happened. Or at least pay close attention to @AGBecerra and @AGKarlRacine lawsuits' discovery.
