Corbyn and Venezuela pt II

Making Another World Possible

AKA Making Britain into Venezuela.

Vote Corbyn get Chavez & Castro. 1/11
Corbyn supported Chavez & his Socialist Revolution, & was evidently concerned about his illness.

'In a passionate speech Mr Corbyn said: "We want him well, we want him back and we want him to continue to bring social justice to the people of Venezuela' [MS 12 Jan 2013] 2/11
Chavez was not mourned by many, Corbyn & McDonnell were among only 9 MPs who signed this EDM regretting his untimely death and his 'steadfast' opposition to 'Western Imperialism'. 3/11
Indeed, only 100 people turned out to hear Corbyn speak at a the London event of a 'worldwide tribute to the life of Venezuela's Hugo Chavez'. 4/11
Corbyn (& McDonnell again) was one of 13 MPs who congratulated Chavez's replacement President Maduro, who has 'promised to continue Hugo Chavez's Socialist revolution... and looks forward to closer ties between Venezuela and the UK.' 5/11
Months later Corbyn was praising Madruo's regime: 'people in Britain could draw inspiration from the Socialist tide sweeping S America, pointing out that Britain too had suffered the mad free-marketing...

We are all the victims of being a laboratory of neoliberalism'.
Corbyn's cheer-leading was rewarded with an intensely boring interview on Maduro's show (a shortish excerpt). 7/11
"Congratulations to you Mr President and to the whole of the Venezuelan people (sniff)" 8/11
As we know things have gone catastrophically wrong with Chavez's/Maduro's Socialist revolution. But who is to blame?

The US of course, this is "eerily reminiscent" of the bloody US backed coup which overthrew Corbyn's political hero Chile's Salvador Allende (thread coming).
Corbyn and the usual suspects wrote to the Independent praising Chavez and complaining about US interference in Venezuela.

As well as speaking at a demonstration against 'No to right-wing destabilisation'. Only praise & never any criticism of those actually responsible. 10/11
Just days before he stood for leader of the Labour Party he was out speaking at a 'Rally for [Maduro's] Venezuela' [Morning Star 14 May 2015]

You have been warned:

Vote Labour Get Venezuela 11/11
I almost forgot from Corbyn's old website (Nov 2012).

Look to Latin America for Inspiration

'the huge social changes... public ownership of industries & increasing nationalisation...'

How did that work out? They're eating their pets.
