1/ THREAD: A brief distinction regarding the term, "Likeability". The manner in which this word is used involves two completely different concepts.
2/ "Likability" (or immediate rapport, charisma, etc., or whatever you choose to call it) *is* a very real human reaction — a type of emotional Rorschach. We make most decisions with true likeability playing a profound role.
3/ However, to make a distinction, the manner in which many of those in the media and elsewhere use the term, "Likeable" ends up taking on a highly misogynistic quality.
4/ Far too many people hold female candidates (as well as in almost all other professional endeavors) to a narrow tight-rope of standards while giving men wide behavioral latitude.
5/ Moreover, this extreme biased behavior is directed toward anyone who's not a straight cisgender male.
However, true likeability is a real psychological human phenomenon and should never be ignored. This is human psychology and is hard-wired into all of us.
