Rescue workers digging kids out of rubble in Syria couldn’t be funded by Russia or the Syrian government, because the Russians and Syrians are the ones burying the kids in rubble. Would you prefer the people dropping bombs also save people from them? This is my eternal question.
By pearl-clutching over rescue workers in Syria being funded by the U.S., you are making the case that kids should die unless those digging them out of rubble are funded by a country you like. I wouldn’t care if the money came from Uzbekistan, as long as it saves one kid’s life.

Listen, I’m not going to sugarcoat the fact that America has done some shitty, shitty things around the world, especially in the Middle East—things that aren’t talked about or covered nearly enough, but funding rescue workers to dig kids out of rubble is not one of them.
To those concerned about regime change, yes, you’re right, the U.S. wanted the Syrian regime gone. That ship has clearly sailed, Assad is still there and it’s obvious he’s not going anywhere so that’s a regime change fail, but rescue workers are still digging kids out of rubble.
