I just wanna say a few words about the election and the danger to us all if the current imposter in No. 10 were to win the general election on Thursday. Let's be clear, he is not there for any of us. He is there as a representative of a capitalist ideology. 1/ #FBPE
In order to see this ideology we should maybe touch on some background. Let's start with market evolution. As many of you will know markets start with many small players & as markets mature they consolidate to become a market dominated by just a few massive corporations. 2/
In the latter part of the 20th Century and the early 21st Century, aided by sophisticated banking, we have seen this market consolidation lead to the creation of mammoth companies that dominate the global business landscape. 3/
As an example the big 5 technology companies, Apple, Amazon, Facebook, Alphabet, and Microsoft have a combined market worth greater than the GDP of the UK, about $3.5 trillion vs $2.6 trillion in 2017. Remember the UK is apparently the 7th biggest global economy. 4/
The top 5 tech companies have a combined revenue of $800bn. Total planned government spending in the UK for 2020 is £850 bn. The planned spending on education is £91bn. Of course with this government, it'll be helping school mates buy schools, but that's another story. 5/
It's the same story in other sectors. You've probably seen this but this is a graphic showing us which companies own all the major food brands. There are 10 of them.
We are all aware of who the main automotive companies are. We have an idea of who the big banks are, the big oil companies, the big insurance providers, energy companies. 7/
It gets murkier when we get into the operations of companies that are less familiar, the commodities traders and mining operations, companies like Vitol, Glencore, Cargill, Koch Industries, Trafigura. These companies are immense and sometimes private, so barely visible. 8/
And then we have the big pharmas, telecommunications companies, the credit card companies. There is a long list, but not that long in fact because these companies are immense and own and control vast markets. 9/
And they all operate in the same way because they are designed the same way and operate according to the same criteria, capitalism. They, whether co-ordinated or not, act in concert for their own gain. Trees do not have to talk to each to bend the same way in the wind. 10/
They act as a network. In fact they meet up every year in Davos, and make fatuous proclamations about their care for the environment or inequality or education. But they are machines & machines don't care. It's like expecting your washing machine to care about your clothes. 11/
And, as we have seen, they exert greater & greater control over society and... our politicians, which ultimately become...their politicians. Some do it publicly but others more quietly buying politicians with political funding. 12/
Or they fund pseudo-intellectual "think tanks"... the Cato Institute for example or the poison that is @iealondon that spends most of its time spewing ultra-capitalist ideology. Or they hire invisible lobbying companies to sway government to do their bidding. 13/
@iealondon And what then happens is government is pulled towards big business. So if we take 3 main elements of society, the people, commerce and government at the bottom, a balanced socio economic system would be have an equal influence on society (S).
@iealondon However, when government is increasingly controlled by business then society becomes under increasing control of business. And that is what is happening now as big business wields corporate power.
@iealondon And for some people, having an influence over government is not enough, they want to own and control everything themselves. These are the neo-feudalists... and they are more common than we like to think. And they were behind Brexit, an orchestrated attach on the UK economy. 16/
@iealondon Koch Industries was mentioned above but you will have already know about the hedge fund manager, Robert Mercer, and his links with the far right. These people are fanatics, capitalist fundamentalists. They really do want to rule the world, a neo-feudal world. 17/
@iealondon That is their plan for the 21st Century they wish to control. I won't go into their links with the far right as that explanation is another thread that is pinned to my page here, the inevitable link between capitalism and fascism. 18/
@iealondon I will just point out one thing, as government gets pulled towards business gradually it's a true agenda becomes less and less popular with the people, gradually appealing to extremists like them and people who will gain from it. 19/
@iealondon So what do they do? They lie, & wrap in with their own far right capitalist ideology, far right social ideology. They manipulate people with lies, propaganda, fuel hate, amplify the support they get. And what do they call it? The will of the people, and rig "democracy". 20/
@iealondon This is how they rigged democracy to get through their pet plan, brexit, a plan to get rid of any obstacles that might limit their plans to buy up the country, for example, EU protection of worker rights, EU M&A regulations, environmental protections etc. 21/
@iealondon And that is why they have placed an imbecile in No. 10. That is why there is one running now to continue to be their puppet front man who feigns everything he is not. He is no protector of the people, he is no patriot, he is no leader. He is a caricatured marionette. 22/
@iealondon His election would give him, his fellow fundamentalists, his paymasters 5 years to run riot, destroy the country we love, rip apart the fabric of our society and sell everything that can be sold from underneath our feet.. after which we'll never be able to buy it back. 23/
@iealondon This is their mission. He idolises Churchill & yet he is the antithesis of his idol. He cares not for the country, he does not fight for it, he is complicit in giving it away and selling us out. They are waiting like vultures to feast on the remains of brexit. 24/
@iealondon This is not an election for 5 years, it is for 50 for that is how long it will take the country to recover from another 5 years of vandalism from this government. Please, for those of you wavering, don't vote for him, for the good of the country & generations to come. 25/
@iealondon It is time for the people to stop the march of the neo-feudalists, hold on to democracy, hold on to justice, hold on to a brighter future, where we the people define our path, not unelected boardrooms & their political pawns. Please, throw out this government & that man. #FBPE
