Formally and, through policy, conflating "Jewish" with "Israeli" or "Middle Eastern" is a white supremacist's dream. It will be referenced as evidence for their often used antisemitic trope that Jews have dual loyalty and have a truer connection to another country or homeland.
Trump's definition mirrors Hitler's of almost exactly 100 years ago, that is, altering what "Jew" should mean, to have it read "as a race and not a religious community".

I want to be clear: I'm not speaking specifically to Trump's motives (though he is often antisemitic, hired white nationalists, & has the support of literal Nazi groups).
